EFF DENUNCIA MAIS UM PEDIDO ABSURDO DE PATENTE: YAHOO QUER DETER O MONOPÓLIO DO "DRAG AND DROP".

A Electronic Frontier Foundation alertou que o Yahoo quer patentear o movimento de "arrastar e soltar" objetos nas interfaces. O pedido é claro:


"A computer-implemented method for manipulating objects in a user interface, comprising:

providing
the user interface including a first interface object operable to be
selected and moved within the user interface; and

in response to selection and movement of the first interface object in the user interface, presenting at least one additional interface object in the user interface in proximity of the first interface object, each additional interface object representing a drop target with which the first interface object may be associated."


O que nao está claro é o obscuro objetivo de patenteamento de um procedimento óbvio e trivial.
Esta é uma "patent for 'smart' drag and drop", ou seja, para um método de arrastar e soltar objetos de uma interface. Imagine o poder de mercado e de bloqueio da concorrência se o Yahoo conseguir ganhar esta patente.

Patentes de software, de algoritmos e de equações matemáticas deveriam ser terminantemente proibidas, pois visam bloquear o uso de procedimentos lógicos.
